I wouldn't be surprised if it was because of some cancer thing being used when making the product.
Here's and experiment: CA can ban everything.
Put a fence around CA for at least 2 generations. Then if no one gets cancer, then they are right. If cancer still happens in the Socialist Republic of California then they are proven to be nuts.
