Default Quick question

Are all C3 coupe doors interchangeable? I just watched a video and saw that later C3s have a side impact beam. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a later door with one if it fit without modifying...

The coupe doors will interchange, but there are slight differences with the way the inside pieces attach. Inside door pulls, arm rest and maybe more will need to be modified.

Well I'm really just concerned with the exterior. My car will be far from stock and I'm not concerned about having a later model door as far as interior. Hell I kind of like the interior of the later C3s better anyway. The exterior styling is the only thing that I really like about my C3. The 50 year old tech, Not so much. The interior, nope. But damned if it ain't one of the best looking cars ever built. IMHO

I don't think the side impact bar is going to help in a crash unless it's a Smart car or Yugo. Just my opinion though.

It is a piece of sheet metal with a few 90 degree bends to stiffen it.

If you ever took a door from a Vette and put it on another.....you would abandon all ideas of side impact beams......which BTW did almost nothing but appease the late 70's early 80's cowboy lawyers that pretty much did nothing but get rich off of business and government.
The amount of fitting it takes to put different door on is breathtaking........I did a few with my father over the years when he was alive.......in fact, we once bought three drivers doors from Fortier's salvage yard to find the best one to fit my Uncle's 77' in the late 90's.......C2's are even worse.......these cars had the doors hand fitted on the line....no two are really exact. Once you spend three hours getting the door gap, then you have to blend the body lines in, that is assuming your gap is good all the way around......if not, then you are building it too. I am having nightmares in the daytime now....thanks LOL
