I am hoping to get into a Tremec TR-3550 in december. so my question is this - which shifter position are those of you who have the tremec using. The standard position is 19.51" from the flange to the cl of the shifter - there are three optional positions from that.
Front: 7"
Middle: 12.65"
Rear - fwd mount position: 18.3"
the last of those seems to be the closest to that of my ST-10 since the middle of the three bosses that mounts the shifter on the ST-10 is 18.122" from the flange of the transmission.
I just dropped in my 540 stroker with a TKO over the weekend. You want to use the standard posistion for the shifter. This will align it with the shifter hole in the tunnel. You will still have to enlarge the hole approx 3" to the right for the shifter tower to clear.
You will also need to space your shifter to the left if you want to use yours stock console... This can be done with a spacer (on later C3's) or by welding a bracket on the shifter that spaces the shifter handle to the correct location...
