I have my headlight assemblies all rebuilt and installed back in the front end.
I have the opening and closing adjustments done and the front to back and side to side adjustments made.
My question is that one side of the door sits a lower in the opening than the other side. Not much maybe a 1/16 to a little less than an 1/8.
Can you adjust one side to come up a little more than the other?
I know how to adjust the hole unit but I just need to make final tweek on one side of the assembly so the door sits nice a level in the opening.
Any ideas?
It depends on how it sits. If it's just the front corner, then shim that side under the front mount. If the whole side is low, then loosen the pivot mount (3 bolts on the pivot bushing housing) and adjust.
Actually there's four or five adjustments on the headlight assm. But I wouldn't start changing them without a manual. They allow you to change just about every aspect of the door, including where it is when it's opened and where it sets when it's closed. I'm not sure how the factory did it, but now that the car is finished getting to most of these adjustments will take time and long arms up underneath the front of the car.
And a word of caution, proceed slowly, one mistake and the doors will take the paint off the edges of the openings or crack the fiberglass as they open and close.
Look around for a good manual or someone who's done this before to help you.
Thanks for the tips.
I have a good manual that shows all of the adjustments and how disassemble and reassemble.
I will have to go through it a little more.
I just need to make a fine adjustment in each corner on one side only.
I will try to mess around some more this weekend.
