UPDATE--PROBLEM SOLVED! Tach working again!
Doing as suggested by Scott78 and FRANKENVETTE, ------- checked the filter, and it was the cause of problem. No votage would pass through it. Thanks for your help. Bill
Last summer, my tach (1978, so electric) would not work the first few miles of driving. Then it would perform correctly, the rest of the drive. Now it never leaves 0.
Any suggestion on repairswouldbe appreciated. Thanks, Bill
Another question: Do we still have ~Topic Serch~ for looking up earlier discussion on subject? I can't find it.
Probably the board on the back of the tach, common to have them fry. Had to replace mine right after I purchased it was non-functional when I bought it. Check the connection at the distributor or try it without the tach filter.
The board is available at most of the vette suppliers, I think I spent $60 for it if I remember right.
Not so quick on the tach board. It is one of the potential causes. My tach stopped working. I pulled the tach, cleaned all the electrical connections and the tach worked fine. It was simply corrosion! You may want to try this first before spending the money to replace the tach board. As suggested, also check your connection at the distributor and the tach filter. I don't have a tach filter on my vette.
