Body Mount #1 (Metal Bracket) Replacement
We're in the midst of a body off resto on a 68. The driver's side #1 steel bracket is rusted away. Any advice on the best way to remove and replace with the blind rivets used?
Thanks,

You should be able to source rivets at a Corvette suplier or even good hardware store, autobody fastener store (or Fastenal?) ....or ebay/online, or just make some up tooling down a grade-5 bolt or out of cold-rolled steel on a mini-lathe. Drill a small hole on the back-side for the stamp tool, re-glass the hole when you're finished. If you want to make it look more OEM, make a stamp tool with correct-looking head markings (oil-quench harden the tool face prior to use), then 'stamp the rivet' to get the right look of the stamping on the rivet to make it look OEM.

Not the perfect solution, but this isn't an NCRS show car either, just a really nice father/son project that he'll get to enjoy for the next 50 years.
