I’m getting ready to install my Borgeson power steering unit in my 74. It is a non power steering car. Do I use the stock belt or is there something special? Thanks. Tom
From what I’ve read parts are stock except the power steering unit itself. Just wondering if anyone that’s done the conversation knew if the belt was different . Thanks. Tom
I went to the auto parts store. I ask them for the belt for the car with power steering. It was not the correct size, I returned it for the next size, no problem. You may have to experiment a bit. I used the same cast iron pulley.
I cannot read that pulley number but it looks like my cast iron pulley. I would give you my belt number but it won't do you any good unless you have the same deep groove PS pulley and 6.75" crankshaft pulley. My PS belt goes from the crank to the PS pump only. If you think the number would help then let me know and type out that PS Pulley number-- then I'll get the belt number for you. Here is what it looks like installed:

Reason: add picture, fix crank pulley size to 6.75"
I see that yours is a big block pulley--from looking at my 68 AIM the routing looks different for the big block.... anyway, here is the info for my SBC anyway. Maybe it will help a little.
I went and measured my small block pulley at the crank and the PS pulley and the approximate belt length. I could not see a belt number.
My Crank pulley is 3858533 and is 6.75" diameter
PS Pulley 3834720 is 6 1/8" so the same diameter as your 2 groove 3878245.
See these links for our 2 Power Steering pulleys diameters which are the same diameter:
My PS belt only runs from the PS Pulley to the Crank Pulley.
Here is a picture of the approximate belt size that I ran from the crank pulley to the ps pulley: It is approximately 37.25" as best as I could wrap the flexible tape measure:
I could not find a belt number. The best recommendation I can give you is to buy a BRAND NAME belt. I used to have squealing issues, no matter how I adjusted or tightened my belts, until a guy at NAPA told me to just buy a brand name belt. Haven't had problems since I quit buying cheap belts . Hope this helps a little.
