Default Ridetech Suspension Ride Height.

I am installing Ridetech's Rear Setup, I am finding the ride height too high for my liking.

Wheel Fender to ground ~ 28.75" while the original VB&P setup I was set to 27.25"

I have 0 preload on the spring and mounted on the lowest setting on the control arm.

Using 26.65" dia wheels 275 40R18

What are you guys getting for wheel fender to ground measurements ?

same boat with a shorter tire
28.75 to fender with a 26.1 tire
I have the coil spanner/adjuster nut finger tight 59100650 650# springs

I was concerned with too much angle in the half shafts when the car squats under acceleration, so I figured it is what it is.
If I remember correctly, Smitty mentioned the 3rd member being moved up from the factory location.

I am 28.5 also. Interesting as I also thought I would be able to get it lower. I have the stock springs they use for our cars, 325 pounds I believe. I am using a hybrid system in front, with Global West uppers and their Coilover extended travel lowers with Ridetech Coilovers. Had to go with the 8 inch springs in the front to get ride height where I wanted it at 27 inches. I think Van Steel uses 8 inch springs in their rear coilovers for our cars as opposed to the 10 inch Ridetech. Seems like a shorter spring would be the only way to get it lower.

I have 8" coils (450 lbs) with the TQ Shock (3 adjustable) rear still @ 28.75" ???

But I was told

"The designed ride height will put the shock right around mid-stroke which is 12.5"

So this measurement with the car on the ground would allow for 2" extension or 2" compression while driving. Mine is in this range. Still working with them as what can be done.

I have not quite gotten there yet, but as I recall they have spacers that you can purchase that can be put on the bottom of the spring that would lower the car. In the picture above there is room for what looks to be about a 1" spacer without changing the spring rate. If they don't sell them, I was going to make a spacer.

Isn't the adjuster support supposed to be on the lower side ? that is where the ride height would move the mounting point up or down ?

I believe rusted has them installed correctly. That is how mine are too with adjustment collar on top, rebound adjuster on bottom facing to center of car. Interesting the triple adjustables come with an 8 inch spring.

Took a quick look at the instructions again and the rear setup of Rusted is installed per the instructions. Also found this: Seems maybe a different spring is in order to lower the car. ugh.

From Ridetech instructions

Yea Ridetech says you can install them either way, doesn't matter. Easiest to have the rebound adjustment at a convenient location vs rideheight adjust which you may do only once. The triple adjustable units have a shorter spring due to they
use a remote reservoir and they need more clearance from the spring due to the connection hoses.

I just switched over to vansteel coilovers all the easy around. My rears are lowered to the max and it sits at 27-7/8". I'm wanting it just a hair lower so i have some shorter springs (same rate) on the way. This will give me a good +/- ride height wise.

Any update on this? Curious as to your final solution. Will have to do this to mine sometime later this year (hopefully...).

If you have not ordered any parts then you have more options. 1 shorter shocks / shorter spring.
Before ordering any parts you need to speak with the suppliers and let them know your desired ride height. I missed this step thinking being a coilover I would be able to lower beyond factory heights.

As of today nothing has been resolved, but since the snow is still on the ground I cannot drive to see how much it settles.

Apparently I missed this step too. My car is all setup and sitting on its feet, just need to finish the interior. It is sitting too high, but thought I could just turn the springs down and be happy. Maybe not...

Well I just complete the install. Setup the same alignment as previous. So the ride height now in the sits at 705mm & 710 mm. But I added more than 0 preload. I should be able to get 705mm both sides which is similar to I had before.
705mm ~ 27.75"

So here is what I discovered, before I drove the car I installed the rear sway bar, once I removed the sway bar the car sat a good inch lower. The sway bar bushing are very stiff as new, so I will re-connect and put a few miles on before final judgement.

I am not using the standard HQ coilovers but the TQ series which also uses a shorter spring than the HQ series.

I have the van steel coilovers as well and need to go lower in the rear. Can you send me a link to the shorter springs you got? And how did it turn out?

I have been down this route as well with the Vansteel rear setup and ended up with a ride height lip to ground of 26 7/8”. However to get the shock body to sit mid stroke and allow both workable compression and extension you need to go to a shorter coilover shock body.

I covered it in detail here

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ourney-88.html

Just going to a shorter spring leads to both a non captive coil as well as bottoming out the strut if you go too low.
