Default 68 Convertible Top. Too tight?

When I purchased the car it had a brand new top + hard top.
the cloth or vinyl top seems too tight. If I secure the front (at windshield) the rear 2 pins are almost impossible to snap in. There is so much tension I fear something will break.

is it just a cheap top that’s too tight or is it adjustable.

anyone run into this?

Any new top I have dealt with was tight. The rear pins are adjustable, they screw in or out. I'd leave it in the sun for a while, then try to attach it and then leave it that way for a week or so to stretch out.

FWIW: I always latch the rear bow first, then move to the front.

Easy is correct, latch the rear as you have no leverage to push down on it the pull the front after its warmed up. The material will be more supple after its unfolded and warmed up. My top needs to sit unfolded for a bit after being stored all winter before i can use it. But as a side note if your new to the car and you never had the top up it could be put on wrong, mine is and it needs replacing. Clown boy has it on crooked and wrinkled as well as not putting the front bow weather seal on....but my hardtop fits well
