Default Lube Points

Hey guys and ladies. Does anyone have a chart showing the zerk fitting/lube points on a 1981 Corvette? Thanks.

Upper and lower ball joints
inner and outer tie rods.
Idler arm if it has one.
PS cylinder at center link end.
Clutch cross shaft.
U joints on drive shaft and half shafts if they have one.
The PS control valve has one and I have always used a hand pump with no issues but others have posted to not lubricate it, unclear whether they are referring to pressure lube gun.

Not a grease fitting but it's a good idea to make sure the hood latches have a drop or two of oil in the appropriate locations. You want to avoid a damaged hood release cable.

There is one on the power steering valve at the end of your center link. DO NOT GREASE THIS.

Also, a nefarious PO may have put grease fittings into your wheel bearings hubs, front or rear. These are not stock if you encounter them. Hopefully that is not the case.

The other fittings I recall are:
4-speed Z-bar (if equipped)
Idler arm
Ball joints (4)
Tie rod ends (4)

Finally, best practice is to use non-greasable U-joints, but you may find other versions at the ends of your driveshaft and half-shafts that have zerk fittings.

TIP
You guys planning a trip ? Make sure you get all the zerks lubed BEFORE you set out.
Nowadays, many shops don't have a grease gun or anyone who knows how to use it; don't wanna have steering get tight on a trip and nowhere to get it lubed.
For many years now, very few passenger vehicles are equipped with any type of grease fitting. For about as long, shops are seeing little demand for lube jobs

If you have not converted to a HEI, one of your lube points are the points, or more properly the rubbing block for the points.

In that case, lubing the distributor is pointless and the is no reason to dwell on it.
