Would like water pump replacement advice
Hi all,
I am having my 1970 L46 engine rebuilt. The water pump that is on it is old and not correct and I would like to replace it. It seems like there are a million water pumps out there that "will work." I would like to keep the car mostly originalish as it's a numbers matching car. Can someone point me to a good water pump that looks like the original? I would be interested in a pump that looks original and maybe have slight performance improvements for either quality/durability or performance. The car is a manual transmission, original Q-jet, exhaust headers, no AC, will either be original intake or the Edelbrock Performer 2101.

I have this Airtex on my 406 after I was sent three Weiand pumps that were made improper and gave up. It came from O'Reilleys......this is on a 406 that revs to over 6000......cools fine on my engine with a stock radiator.

Not sure how it compares to the original, but Stewart components makes a really good water pump. Some of them are corvette specific.
