Will it do any damage to lift the rear end with the floor jack under the differential pumpkin to get both tires off the ground and the same question for the front, lifting at the cross member to get both front tires up at the same time?
I've been jacking from the sides behind the front and in front of the rear tires, going side to side.
I'm concerned that lifting from the center of either end might cause too much flex at the middle of the car.
I've never had a problem doing it that way. You can use a small piece of plywood to keep from denting the front cross member, no harm will come to the rear diff. I think this way actually flexes things less than lifting from the sides.
Pumpkin is ok as that is where the car's weight is held all the time. Front crossmember is the same way, except the bottom is thin metal and the jack will dent it. Heavy plywood or 1×6 big enough to go from front to back of crossmember will protect it. Most are already dented by jacks from previous owners. Looks like 3 of us same answer at same time...
