The front rims on a ZO6 are 17". I want to put them all around on my 1973. Will they fit? What do I need to do make them work? What is the smallest width of tire that will fit on the front 17" ZO6 rim? NEED HELP! Rims and tires always confuse me.
The potential problem is that they are 9.5" wide, and even though I own a Z06 I am not sure what backspacing they have. The tire that comes on them is a 265/40-17. Pretty wide for the front of a C3 from everything I've read. I'm sure you could run a 255/40-17, but that's pretty narrow for this wide of a wheel...I definitely wouldn't go any less than that.
If you like the look of the late model wheels, you may want to consider the regular C5 ones. They are 17x8.5 for the fronts and you could get these all the way around and put 255/40-17s on there. I am _assuming_ the backspacing is appropriate for a C3, though. Haven't researched it myself, yet.

Re: ZO6 Rims (72rdstr)
I have 17 x 8.5 wide 1996 Corvette wheels on the front, and 17 x 9.5 on the rear. The rears do hang out a bit. 8.5's all the way around would fit well.
The 9.5 fit on the rear, look kinda nasty, but like I said they hang out by about 1/2 inch. Some offset trailing arms would make these fit really well and may even allow the 11.5's on the rear :D
I don't know if you can go 9.5's on the front as it will either hang outside the front fender and eat the fender when going around a hard corner. If it doesn't hang out too far then it would rub on the frame when turning at full lock.
EDIT: -- you will have to use adapters for any C4 or C5 wheel. Look at Vette Brakes and Parts for the adapters. http://www.vettebrakes.com
i too have been looking into putting z06 rims on my 73 but i dont like the flat look i want ad eeper dished z06 rim, youll need vb&p brake produts spacers to run the stock z06 rims they are backspaced too much to fit with out spacers.somone posted a pic onhere of a c3 with z06 rims and it looked great,i have it at home ill post it when im off work.
