Simple question
Hi corvette team,Question is....is this a shipping clamp on my rear spring and should it be removed? Is there any noticeable difference to the height and ride before and after.
It amazes me I haven't seen this before!!

Yes, that is a shipping strap and that is not the original spring

Yes cut those off. I found them on my 75 after I purchased it. Unfortunately removing them hasn’t settled the spring much.

Good little job to do while I'm struck in lock down for a bit ...I was more worried about the car lifting a little as I already have 8 1/2" bolts on

The ends of original steel leafs were curled up like a sled. Aftermarket are flat and have those straps. They also are not arched correctly and most times need 8" bolts to bring the rear of the car down.

I took mine apart, removing the shipping clamp, painted and reassembled. That is how there were from the factory I believe - no clamp.

Thanks man. It’s taken quite a while to undo and fix the pile of Bubba on this car. Almost done.
