I've done some searching but can't find the answer I need. On my '76 coup when I turn on just the parking lights the headlights open. I have had an electric conversion on the headlights for a few years now so I can't really say if this is something that started after I did the conversion or has been there all along. Any ideas?
Well, I'd have to wonder about your electric headlight convertion. Pull the switch half way. Parkers , running lights. Pull the switch all the way, headlights. Vacuum switch only kicks in at all the way. But that would have been eliminated. Not sure what you have going on.
agree..but my 79 vacuum... sometimes is tricky where they open (lights off) on parking only if not in the groove so to speak. have to push off and retry
Depending on how you wired it. I like to use a male to female adapter for the headlight-then add a couple diodes so the headlights come up ONLY when the headlights are on -whether low or high beam- and no need to run wires all the way to the headlight switch.
and if you need a PDF I have put together- includes troobleshooting and other ways to wire- shoot me an email richard454 at comcast dot net
Here's a diagram-
