Default Window crank handle

Is the window crank handle tool used to disengage the pin holding the crank on, applied to the handle side or opposite the handle side? Thanks.
I found the answer to this in the Service Manual. It is the handle side. Thanks again.

it really depends on how whoever put the clip back on placed it, frequently they put them on backwards
Get a flashlight and stuff your head into the door panel and look to see the clip. The "tool" should go in from the open end of the clip and push it away so it pops off the other side.
That said, I hate those tools and have seen more than one mark on a door panel from them. Take a short length of stiff wire and bend a small "hook into one end, about 1/8" long or so and reach into the loop side of the clip with the hook sideways, turn the wire 90 deg so it grabs the clip and then pull it back until it pops off.
Also seen people slip a shop rag behind the handles and slide it back and forth a few times and it catches the end of the clip and pops it off.... I've never tried that
