I know this has probably been asked a bunch of times before but I am so confused with all the info out there. I have a 78 silver anniversary and want to upgrade to 17in wheels. Looking to go with a rally style in that size. I am just concerned about fitment. Wheel is 17x7 all around with a 4" backspace and 0 offset. Front tires are going to be 245/45/17 and rear are 255/60/17. Going for a little raked look. All your input is appreciated
Not quite the same, but my 79 came with 15x8" Enkei wheels with ~4.5" backspace. They sat too far inside the fenders, and rubbed on the frame (255/60R15). I would have needed spacers, but I swapped for YJ8 wheels with the correct backspace.
I'm not saying it wouldn't work, or fit, but you might need spacers.
I believe the stock offset is about -12 mm, so if that is correct the full additional 1/2" of the wheel moves it 1/2" inward which may effect the rear tire choice..
