Default Need help with overflow tank

Overflow tank straps.

Looking up from the egg crate hole, the strap isn’t square to the canister. And it isn’t holding the tank firmly. The strap is pressing against the heater hose connection. I’m perplexed.

Here is the cap. This strap isn’t tight and at an angle.

I think Bubba put the wrong tank holder in.

This is in a 70 LS5 convertible with A.C.

Any insight anyone has would be helpful

As you must realize the 1980 Corvette did not come with a big block engine.
Do you also have a cap on the radiator?
The cap in the picture should be a 15lb cap not 14.
From the pictures it is really hard to discern what kind of tank was added, is it the one in this link?

If it is the one in the above picture the link below shows the correct mounting for 1969 to 1972

I bet he has a 70 and it's just a typo. Can the tank go in another inch and the band clamp be installed on the other side of the heater hose? That is the correct expansion tank for a LS-5 with AC.

The clamps themselves are screwed in all the way and it’s still loose. I was wondering if I have an incorrect bracket.

I don’t think I can move it in and go on the other side of the connection, because then the cap end would come off. I’m just perplexed. If there might be a different bracket. The clamps are too big, and they are spread too far apart.

Here's a photo of the overflow tank/straps on my '71 BB with AC just like it left the factory 49 years ago. Never been removed.
