I am having a problem with my turn signal switch. I rebuilt the steering column some time ago and can't find the old switch. I have all new wiring harnesses. 72 w/o tilt tele. Is there an adapter?
No adapter. The black one plugs into the white one and there is some white part that is "leftover". this is the part tha tslides into a bracket on the steering column. I'm going off memory but i think I remember questioning myself on this same thing.
Just went and looked at mine. There is a portion that is not used on the longer one. The part tha thas no wireing to it is not used. The plug will fit on the other 2/3 of the plug.
You say that you have all new wiring harnesses. The color coding on the wires going into the body harness looks correct but I think the black connector is incorrect. You could go to a salvage yard and snip the body harness connector from just about any GM vehicle in the 70 and early 80s time frame. Then just remove the wires and the female connectors from the body harness and snap them into the salvage connector. Make sure you install the wires in the correct order.
