ZZ emblems--samples & pics
Some notes & info:
I'm still learning the best (and correct) way to machine these! You'll notice the ZZ4 samples have a border "step"...this was totally un-intentional, it was the result of the wrong offset on the bevel pass (like I said, I'm still learning!). However, they look good regardless :) The ZZ5's are done per Jim's request, with an engraved border, which will be painted (black). Each letter is 1" tall, and about 4-1/4" in total length. Since they're all separate, I can "pre-align" these, but they will VERY easy to apply one-at-a-time by just using a strip of masking tape as an alignment aid. I will laser-cut the double-sided tape I'll apply to these. I use "Bron" brand tape, excellent stuff...
If you look closely at the bottom of the "3", you'll see one of my "Murphy's Laws" at work when doing stuff like this: It MOVED during the final cut, so it's scrap now. In fact, I only made two 3's, and they BOTH moved (?)...oh well, it's part of custom work!
I mentioned before that I'll polish them "the best I can with my equipment"...well, my equipment consists of a couple of old buffing wheels and stick of unknown compound! They look pretty good, but you can see 'grain'. They shine up good with Mothers though...One problem is I'm using raw 6061 plate, which always have scratches that have to be sanded out. I need to check into masked or pre-polished (do they have that?) aluminum. I'm also not going to attempt to polish the edges, I'll never be able to get into the tight spaces, and the machined edge really doesn't look all that bad (IMO)...

Thank You Thank You Thank You ThanK You !!!! You have made my day! JIM

LS1, how did you know he was making them too? Keven is making an alpha/numeric system so that he can mass produce the characters and assemble them as needed.
Sounds like you are in luck...........JIM :yesnod:

I Love 'em!!
Let me know where to send money!!!!

I think it's neat selling them as letters instead of all bound together, avoids GM royalties.
