Does the rollercam require a fuel pump rod with a roller on the tip?
My block doesn't have the provision for the rod. The hole is there but it doesn't go to the cam. I want to take it to a machine shop to make it right but first, I need a rod.
I want to keep my mecanical fuel pump, no electrical for me.
Or you could put the mechanical pump on a not use it. Then put an electric pump back by the tank. If you starve the engine for fuel at high rpm due to the mech pump then you will melt pistons. I know,I have done that. :bb
I'll look at the moroso but my engine will get max hp at 5500 rpm at around 400 at the engine. I just want the reliability and noise free pump that the factory had.
Are the gm pump all the same for volume and pressure?
I have never had the need to go electric. The stock return line pump has always been able to feed my motor at WOT for 20-30 seconds with a 825 Race Demon four squirter no choke double pumper carb.
Now just think about what i said: a 1/4 mile is done in 12 seconds or so. I would not take a chance on lean blowing my motor or sputering for lack of gas. You would never run your motor at WOT like I do during a 92 mile open road race. Actually I get up to speed and back off. At 175 mph I'm off the throttle and watching the road and gauges.
I have owned cars with the big electic whine of a fuel pump. IMO you don't need it until you have FI or some moster motor
