1968 327/350, fresh rebuild, DeWitt radiator, rebuilt water pump, new thermostat and hoses.
Car heats to 210* top hose cold, bottom hose warm. Heater hoses hot.
could be as simple as a bad stat? Your thoughts?
What temp thermostat and it could be;
air in system
not enough coolant
thermostat installed upside down
bad thermostat
bad luck
185* stat
Possible air in system?
Filled system cold to level marked on expansion tank, started motor level went down, refilled.
I was careful to install properly but will check.
Hoping bad stat.

I would think bad stat, try pulling and running without to make sure there isnt something blocking the hose or radiator. Does it stay at 210* or is that where you shut it off because of what you were seeing witht the radiator? Air isnt going to stop your water from circulating, you have a pump forcing water through the system, if there is a hole drilled n your stat as a little bypass it will still let a small amount of fluid circulate. I just started mine for the first time this year with a new cooling system, new motor and new tranny. I have a clear filter in my system and could see the fluid moving slightly on start up.
The only other thing it could be is your pump, is it new? is it spinning the correct direction?
I'd think that if the pump were working backwards, the lower hose would be at least as hot as the heater hoses.
Guess #1: Bad thermostat
Guess #2: Trapped air bubble. When I fill the coolant system, I elevate the front of the car, fill the engine through the water neck, then attach the water neck and top off the radiator. I also use a Stant rad cap that lets me relieve pressure through the hose to the overflow tank with a flip of a lever.
