Has anyone come up with a better material for the console side panels. I am thinking of removing the covering from the old hardboard and gluing it to aluminum panels. With aluminum, the bottom and side edges can be bent inward for a tighter fit. Or maybe tempered hardboard from the lumber yard. Any ideas? :smash:
I am going to be taking my interior trim parts anf wrapping them with a fake leather. I am going to be using 3M Super Adhesive and maybe staples. Haven't started the project yet.
I custom built mine when I redid the interior.
For the panels themselves, I used a hard press board material.
To cover them I used the same carpet as the floor, trimming larger than the actual panel so I could tuck the carpet under and into the center console.
Looks great, no gaps and it looks factory.
