My Ceramic coated headers have been on ablut three years and are becoming dull in appearance and are showing what looks like rust in some spots. Is there any way to polish these on the car without recoating?
Will, I'd send Jet-Hot an email and ask them what's the best stuff to use. I have heard of other people using Mother's Aluminum polish. One other source suggested buffing them with 0000 or finer steel wool. If I was to try either of these, I'd try it in a spot that isn't visible from the top of the car first.
When I picked up my headers from AirBorn Coatings they told me to use Mothers Aluminum Wheel Polish if they started to look dull. They still look great so I haven't had a need to try Mothers to see how good of a job it does.
I just tried some of the Mother's polish on mine and it worked pretty well. You might also try some #0000 steel wool. I only had some medium coarse #2. It seemed to work but was a bit too coarse. The finer grades might work really well.
