I have a complete 1985 C4 serpentine drive set up that I want to install on my wife's 78. I've search the forum and while I found many write up about serpentine conversions, I only found one where C4 parts were use. However, the write up is old and all the pictures have been removed and Pictures would be nice to see the location of the accessories. So, Is there someone that has done the serpentineconversion using C4 set up that could advise me on the best way to go.
One issue with the c4 will be the power steering pump. You will need a gen 2 pump which has a remote reservoir. And I am not sure but I believe you might be missing a bolt hole on one of the heads for one of the brackets. You will also need a different water pump since the routing of the belt will turn the pump in reverse. It isn’tt a difficult mod but not a simple plug n play. There are other variations of this set up like from a Cameron or a truck that might not be like this but from a c4 this is what you will encounter. Good luck

if you decide to delete the smog pump and ac set up there is an ebay seller that has the delete kit for 85-98 C4s. Made in u s a!
If you found the write on a forum, can you PM the OP? If they are still current you may be able to get pictures that way. Good luck.
The two treads I've found about a C4 to C3, The OPs have not been on the forum in years.

I looked for what you'd like to do but I had no luck, but here is an alternative that people have done inexpensively by going to the local bone yard & cleaning things up, easy installation with a couple of minor adjustments with great success.

I do. The rad hose is a little different since I have the L98 engine and TPI on it, but it will give you an idea. I also will get a pic of the PS resevoir. Give me a day or so to get out and get to the car. Had back surgery 4 or 5 weeks ago and my wife gets really....let's just say she doesn't want me stopping near the car for a few minutes. Social distancing and all that. I will get some pics tomorrow. I also had to make up a line from the PS pump to the small steel line on the PS control valve. Will try and get a pic of that too.
I think the one that everybody used was the ones for the 88 ish Camaro firebird cars. I know some people that use the ones for the later LT1 Camaros and they were a disaster.. I can't speak to use in the c4 Corvette serpentine setup.
Got to the car today. Here are the pics of the remote resevoir that I used and the upper rad hose. Again, just an FYI this is a 1986 TPI engine so the rad hose might be different than what you need. I had a clearance issue with the MAF coming off the front of the throttle body and my cold air intake. I preferred to use hard pipes and only rubber ( silicone) where I needed to make connections. Good luck.
Had to cleare Maf and air pump delete pulley Top of resevoir. Had to fabricate something to make inner fender straight.

What air filter are you running? What size is the mounting flange? Any clearance issues? My new engine has the Edelbrock XT intake and this filter looks like it could work for my application.
Don't want to hijack the thread but It's a Varaam filter. I think it's for a camaro but not sure. Will look it up if you want. There is also an air dam that goes above the core support. Fit's under the hood perfectly. I had to put one notch in the air dam because of my TPI radiator hose. It wassn't cheap by any means. In the neighborhood of about $325. A very good neighborhood by the way...But after trying a lot of different ideas, from using some late model corvette snorkels going over the top, to cutting down and totally destroying a good core support this was the only thing that worked well for me. Fits under the hood fine and it's hard to see but there is rubber weather strip going around the filter and the air dam also has the same thing so it seals up under the hood fine. Most likely will need to fine tune it whan I get that far. The main problem was the A/c condensor in front of the radiator that pretty much blocked everything going over the top. As for the diameter of the outlet, it's probably a 3", but again , can't remember for sure but it fit my MAF set up fine. I am very happy with it.
I thought the filter looked familiar. I originally picked up the Vararam kit for a GTO. I was not able to use it because my new GM serpentine kit sticks out too far. I was going to have to butcher the filter housing and even then could not confirm it would work. I ended up sending it back. But, I never thought to just test the filter by itself without the housing. It looks like it'll fit but my throttle body has a 4.5" OD so I might need some type of reducing adapter. I'm thinking the Vararam filter is smaller but not sure. The Vararam replacement filters can be picked up for around $70 so it might still be a good option. I've found some K&N filters I can use that are in the same price range but the Vararam sure has a lot more surface area.
the pump itself needs to turn opposite what the OEM C3 motor has on it. Fan clutch should be fine, not sure about reverse blade fan, since I have a shroud and 2 fans from a C6, which was almost a complete drop in with not many mods. . As for the filter the best part doesn't show here. The air dam. It virtually seals off all the hot air in the engine compartment. I felt that sucking in the hot air would completely cancel whatever you may gain by using an open filter like that.
