Default Help needed with engine rebuild

I asked these questions under engine mods andhad little response, so I'll try in this forum.

I picked up an engine the other day and would like advise on what to do. First here are the numbers;

3970010 block. vin V0913TYZ
462624 heads, I also already have 333882 heads that are fresh with triple angle valve job.
3932442 crank
14007378 alun intake
stock carb
3932461 exhaust manifolds

Will these parts work well together? I plan on using the 333882 heads with stock exhaust manifolds. I am going to get rid of the single cat and go duel exhaust and twin cats.

I think I'll need to go .30 over (my block is at the machine shop now). What will be a good cam to use?

I'm not looking at 400 hp, but it would be nice. I have had my car for 15 years and I owe it to her. This it the first time the engine has been touched since someone put a 305 in it 17 years ago.

Thanks for the help since I haven't rebuilt a motor in over 20 years.

I'd recommend either the Comp High Energy 268H or the Crane Energizer 272H. Both are single-pattern hydraulic cams that complement a 350 rebuild. Add Jet Hot coated headers to the duals plan. The '882' heads are an improvement over the '624's but, if you can afford more, I'd recommend even better heads or at least a good porting of the '882's. You can get smog-legal World S/R Torquers or, if emissions isn't an issue, I'd go for a good iron head form Brodix or Dart (Iron Eagle). The Dart iron eagles are available assembled for $800 plus S&H. They aren't emissions compliant and I have found (I use the 180cc intake runner, 72cc combustion chamber version) that a richer carb is needed to overcome cold start behavior and lean condition that the carb will experience if switched directly from the 624 heads your car has today. If anything will be a bottleneck to 300+ hp, it will be the heads and exhaust manifolds. Also, send the qjet off to Lars for a rebuild. He works magic. Be sure to send your specs (intended specs the carb is to support) so that he can approximate performance. Go for a Performer intake and freshen the ignition. I switched from 624's to 882's in 1999. I wish I had taken the leap to the better heads then... :seeya

You probably already know, but the #'s bring up:

3970010 Block - '69-'80 2 or 4 bolt main
3932442 Crank - 350 cast medium journal 3.48" stroke
333882 Heads - '74-'80 76cc chambers
462624 Heads - '75-'86 76cc chambers (could be 1.72/1.5, 1.94/1.5 or 2.02/1.6)
