Default LS Conversion - Fuel Leak Troubleshooting

Good Morning All,

I fired up the LS3 in my 1973 LS conversion a couple weeks ago and everything seemed to go well. I recorded a video to share with my friends so they could hear the exhaust with the mild CamMotion cam:

Exhaust Note of LS3 with mild street CamMotion

Looking at the movie last week I could not help but notice something dripping from the muffler, which I assumed was gas as the fuel pump/filter/regulator is right above it. I do not recall smelling any gas at the time, could it perhaps be condensation and not gas? I ran the car for about 3-4 minutes is all. If it is gas, where is the most likely place it would come from? To me, that fitting exiting the filter is suspect, God intended for all fittings to be threaded. I have cycled the key several times to have the pump pressurize the system, but have not been able to find the leak subsequently. Perhaps that is not enough pressure, only getting 2 seconds worth of pumping every 30 seconds or so. Can I put 12 volts on the pump directly to run it longer, if so, how long can I safely run it before burning it up if the car is not pulling any fuel?

Thanks,

Scott

It could be water. Why can't you start the engine again to see if the same liquid starts to drip?

Good question, the main reason is that the car is currently on jackstands and I am prepping to paint it and I am reluctant to fire it up in this condition. I agree I should probably put the tires on and fire it up if I cannot find it otherwise.
