Default Gas Gauge Wire Connection

I’m trying to take out the center gauge cluster and need to know how to disconnect the wire that is on the gas gauge.

This is what it looks like. I can’t get it to release. Thanks.

Do you mean the nut will not come off?
Give it a spray of pb blaster / kroil / liquid wrench and let it sit over night?

No, its that electrical connecting on back of the gas gauge..

The brown and pink wire plug? Just wiggle it back and forth while pulling, it should unplug, there's no clip or retainer that I know of

Yes it's those wires. I have pulled and proded to no avail. I will keep at it. Just wanted to know if there was a catch or something peculiar to that connector for it to release.

If there is no locking tab on that black connector, then it should pry off, but it may be difficult to get enough force to do this by hand. Try this:
1. Take a fairly large screwdriver and insert in the space at the center of the connector, between the connector and the bar on the back of the gauge. Select a screwdriver that nearly fills this space.
2. Take a small screwdriver and insert it between the connector and the large screwdriver that you just put in place. Now use the small screwdriver to pry the connector away from the large screwdriver. This will give you a lot of leverage, so don't go crazy using a lot of force when trying to pry the connector off, or you will break something.
