Heater Pipe Routing Question 1980
On mine the metal bracket is not attached to anything. I'm sure this isn't right. I found that there is a part called an "S" tube.

I looked at the diagram for this pipe, but it doesn't show how it connects.
Also at the heater connection I see hoses that have a 90 degree bend. Mine don't and there is a kink in the line. I don't think this is good. If I want to stay with steel hoses, is there a 90 degree fitting that would help this?
Also in mine line from the intake to the heater, there seems to be some kind of shut off valve. I assume this was put on by the original owner, but I'm not sure. Did Chevy put anything like that?
I am planning to pull these hoses out by the weekend.
Here are some pictures if mine
my suggestion is to buy from one of the vendors they come prebent on ends that go under to heater core and you really dont want to be pulling on them...
you should also have a hor water **** off so heat is stopped going into car..some buy shut off valves..i like the vacuum original...especially if you have ac..
suggest buying aim from willcox pdf
mine is a 79

The inline valve is manually shutting off water flow, cant tell what hose they used.
The factory Vacuum operated inline valve was placed in the 5/8" line.
Personally, I would delete the metal "S" pipe and feed the 3/4" hose under the compressor. At least on my 77 between the compressor and bracket there is a flat part of the bracket the hose will fit through.. Less hose clamps and splices.

FROM WATER PUMP UNDER A/C COMPRESSOR 'S' SHAPED METAL PIPE.
PIPE COMES UP BEHIND A/C COMPRESSOR AND HOSE THEN GOES TO HEATER CORE
FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD TO HEATER VALVE AND FROM HEATER VALVE TO HEATER CORE. ALSO THERE ARE SPECIALTY MOLDED HEATER HOSES THAT CONNECT TO HEATER CORE
THIS IS FROM A 1981
