Default Mystery part

I just swapped the engine in my ‘79 among other parts like the power steering system components and master cylinder, and one day I found this part on the garage floor. At first I thought it came from a lifter but after taking an old one apart, it’s definitely not that and I’m concerned it’s a part from one of the new parts I’ve installed. Does anyone know what this piece is or goes to?

I believe it's the pressure relief valve from a PS valve. Did you disassemble your old one?

I'm sorry Monty, I meant to say it's from your power steering pump (not valve). It is an internal piece.
Did you take the old pump apart?
If this fell out of your current, installed pump you'd have fluid all over the floor.

Ohhhhh yes that makes more sense I had to take out the high pressure line connector to the pump because the old one was stuck in there. When putting this piece back in it would go mesh facing up, right?
