Default Why won't my power steering pump move?

I'm replacing the belts, (or trying, anyway), and I have loosened off every bolt or nut I can find on the pump, (4 in total), and it still won't pivot to allow me to get the belt off and back on. I've loosened the adjuster bolt, the two that mount the bracket to the block, and one on the rear bottom, and nope, not budging.
Is there a 5th and 6th, or even a 7th?

Most power steering mounting brackets have three bolts that need to be loose to adjust the belt tension. Check to see if the belt you have is short not allowing you to move the pump. Or you could just remove the pump and bracket to see what's wrong.

Sounds like you missed the front pivot bolt, the two into the block don't need to be loosened but there's another one that's inline with the nut you loosened in the bottom-back

It's behind the pulley so you may not see it easily

When you try to push it to loosen the belt, part of the pump may be hitting the engine block, seems like I may have experienced that in the past. Investigate that, and cut the belt off to remove. Then might want to get a longer belt, maybe 1/2 to 1 ".

Have you tried moving it both ways? Because of its angle to the pulley the direction to move it to loosen isn't always intuitive.

I think there’s 5 bolts, 2 that hold the Bracket to the block one on the front that appears to go all the way through to the back but is 2seperate bolts then another on the rear top. I get those 2 rear bolts from underneath.....as I remember it

Its a pita for me anyway..i thought fozen
get a wood broom handle and find your pry space..do not pry on the tank...have at it once the two bolts loosened..
i also adjust the belt so i can actually check my power steering fluid now..1/2 different belt size moves a lot

Thanks everybody, especially Mooser..
I'm sure I missed the one that Mooser has in his picture.
The belt's the right length, and I'm changing it because it has to come off to replace the fan belt which was the wrong width. Definitely a Bubba job, put on whatever you have that will sorta fit.
