Curious if anybody knows much about the racks Speeddirect uses? I'm going to replace the rack in my Steeroids kit, but I'm trying to understand they're price. They sell replacement racks for $550+, and from what I've heard and seen, it's an 80s-90s Grand Am rack. You can get the same reman'd rack from Summit for $70-80, and I can get it through the shop I work at for about $50. They say there's is 2.5 turns lock to lock, and the one on summit is listed as 2 3/4-3 turns. But I've always felt the Steeroids setup turns a little too quick, so an increase may not be a bad thing anyways.
Do you think there's possibly anything they do to their racks to justify that price? I'm thinking its more of a deterrent to keep guys from just buying a rack from them and building their own kit, but I'm not sure. I mean, how much can you really do to a rack to improve it and make it that much more expensive? I can't imagine there is.
From the number of complaints that I've heard about the play in Speed Directs racks [me included] I don't think they do any thing to the used racks they purchase other than clean them up. T
