I need to replace my exhaust system on my 1974 corvette. It has the base 350 motor, with an automatic transmission. It has the huge mufflers from back in the day. I would like it to have a clear exhaust note. Anyone have any suggestions?
Corvette central has some nice exhaust kits that fit well. I installed one with short headers and magnaflow mufflers. Fit was good and so is the sound.
New Corvettes have a much more modern sound to them. Old Cobra's much more of the growl one would expect from a 60's performance exhaust.
big difference.
60's early 70's V8 growl, chambered exhaust. A bit on the loud side, but sound great. Also a fair bit of drone in the cabin at speeds of 70 and up.

I bought these in 2002, they're still good and still loud.

where are you located? I have a nice newer system that I took off and replaced with side pipes. Magna flow mufflers nice stainless tips...sounds really nice.

This system seems to be a favorite for the C2/C3s. We don't make a complete system at this time, but the CC kits are about as close to it as you could get and uses our Signature Series straight-through mufflers.
Don't count on anything you can buy will fit the car......sorry, very disappointed in many of the systems I have bought, and subsequently had to return.....all proclaiming they are made to fit my car. And each one with the same worn out excuses.

My exhaust pipes came from Corvette Central. Installed 2.5" ramhorns, 64-65 2.5" downpipes (no neckdown on 64-65 pipes), 2.5" all the way back, and the mufflers, and muffler supports, from corvette central also. Bolted up beautifully and I'd had headers and an exhaust system fabricated an exhaust shop for 30+ years.

Are we talking about part number 11225? Is that a stock size muffler that bolts right on?
