They must be able to do some pretty fancy **** with synthetics. Got 80-90 gear lube in my hair once. That smell doesn't go away. I think it was about 6 showers and lots of shampoo before I couldn't smell it in the air around me.
I don't get it.
Wnat numbskull marketing air-head got a bonus for that idea?
Why would we want to have flavored smell good oils or chemicals. Maybe the kids can say "oh look, Dad's got grape juice on the shelft in the garage" Dumber things have been done by kids.
Reminds me of my Dad telling the story of him and his brother, going into town (around 1915, they lived on a farm, so walking on a hot day) to get their Mother a bottle of large Vanilla that she needed for baking. Vanilla smells good - let's drink it. Their Dad found them out behind the barn - Drunk.
Next dumb azz inernet challenge ?
the "gear oil challenge" ?
the "cat spray challenge" ?
WAG
granted, conventional gear oil stinks, but maybe those w/ less diy experience just dunno just what that tell-tale gear oil smell means ?
? Perhaps that particular synthetic gear oil does not have the typical wear package and its associated stink ?
Maybe the maker of that grape gear oil includes a "grape stink" as tell-tale marker ? Because, otherwise it has no typical stench ? WAG
I spent a lot of time rebuilding automation transmissions at home. I'd open one that had been fried big time. My wife would always know- she'd tell me that one was really cooked.
I wish we had something like that in the 80's, when I was crewing on a Trans Am team. I had a Celebrity wagon at the time that we used for a parts chaser, pit cart and team transport on race weekends. That wagon would stink like gear lube for two weeks after a race. My wife refused to ride in it after race weekends. Best part was that it was a company car, and even though I kept it spotless, and we had no restrictions on how we used our company cars, I don't think my boss would have been real happy if he had to ride in it smelling like that.
Gives a WHOLE new meaning to making sure your "rear end" smells good.
Gotta wonder tho, what does it smell like when it's hot? Does it ferment into vinegar?
OK, it's a Full Moon day, but that was a week ago, and we're just having nonsense fun.....
