Have any of you tried these Rhoads lifters? I am curious how well they work.

I have used them. No problem. With the engine I built after that (which was an L-82 in a 70 Nova) I used a generic anti-pump up hydraulic like a TRW or a Melling. Saved money on that over the first set as I recall.... That engine pulled 6500 RPM shifts all day long for years but I never took it past there. So I was indeed satisfied with the others too. AFAIK the Rhoades claim to fame was that they were the ones to come out with Anti-Pump Up lifters years ago. Good stuff. :flag

It depends what you expect out of them. I had a C3 with a 406sb and a comp cam in the 230duration @.050 range and the Rhodes let this setup idle smoothly at 500 rpm in drive. The bleed down actually made this cam act like a stocker until around 3000 rpm. By then the lifters were pumped to the normal position and the cam came alive. My only problem with them was I was running 12.5 compression and when these lifters bled down at low rpm, my cylinder pressures went sky high. Later Competition Cams ground a special cam for me with a lot of overlap that reduced this cly pressure at low rpm and it was an excellent setup. A reasonable compression ratio would not have this problem.

The only problem about them is the clicking noise you will hear on idle speed - a lot of friends told me that I should adjust the valves....

Finally I changed them back to standard lifters. Well, my CC-268 Cam was not too wild so them lifters probably could not show their full benefit.
