I contacted a friend that has a 2002 Camaro. He came by and we took some pics of his seatbelt setup. The 4 pics are below FYI. Now that I see all the 'hardware' involved and how simple the system is and easy to remove, I feel comfortable going to the local junkyards to get a set rather than contacting Rancho Chevy in CA.

I use the Krylon Semi Gloss and also the Krylon Flat and Gloss. Have never had a problem with heat problems under the hood with it. I like it because it dries fast :) Chuck

I've got a set of '69 seat belts that I removed from my car in 1970. They are shoulder belts and they are grey or silver. I'm going to dig them out from the box full of Corvette stuff in my attic and put them on e-bay within two weeks. I've got a pair of '69 seats that have been reupholstered also. Man, all the stuff I removed is in "demand". Go figure!!!

One thing to note about the F-body rear belts is that they do not fit "as is" on the '69s as they do on the later models (starting in '70, I think). The '69 shoulder belts are mounted vertical, while the later are mounted horizontal. Due to the hanging weight on the F-body mechanism, you must fab a bracket to relocate the mount to allow a horizontal installation.

If you have some time, search the archives. There is a ton of info about this there. Here is one I saved off if I ever get off my butt, as I still have the stock belts in my car: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=248665

Have you tried SnakeOyl. I thought they supplied correct seat belts for all restoration projects.

"Late" 69 buckles are all stainless steel....NOT color coded to the interior.

There is also a difference in the shoulder harness attachment. As I remember, the early style has a "female" slot in the buckle to hold the shoulder harness while the late style has a "male" prong for the shoulder harness. Naturally, the shoulder harness attachment would be different to accomidate this difference. Chuck
That's reversed. The late model has the female end

I found this link on this forum a few years ago and they had good reviews from our members. The company is Andover Restraints, Inc.

http://www.andoauto.com/1968-71_Corvette_Seat_Belts.htm

I copied the following from there web page...

"1968, 1969, 1970 and 1971 Chevrolet Corvette replacement non retractable lap seat belts and retractable lap seat belts that are available with or with out the optional add-on shoulder harness. The buckle styles available are a standard push button and a all metal OEM style push button. The lap seat belt retractors are automatic locking (ALR) which lock in place when pulled in to position and released. The shoulder harness retractors are web sensitive emergency locking (ELR) which allow for some movement once attached to the lap seat belt stud and will lock on sudden movement or a pre-designed tension.

All of the seat belts and related hardware listed are new and manufactured to meet or exceed FMVSS (U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) 209,302 and SAE 386 with most manufactured or assembled in the USA..

Also available are 1968-71 retrofit kits that include an attached combination retractable lap seat belt with shoulder harness and include mounting hardware and installation instructions. Contact us for additional information."

I think black was $100 + $10 for colors, and the shoulder harness $25 extra
