Suddenly my interior lights don't go off when the doors are closed. Odd thing is the buzzer for the key in the ignition does go off when doors are closed. These two operations use the same switch so not sure what is going on. Thanks for your help.

Is your hood switch connected? Mine isn’t and don’t know if it turns those lights on or just the door ajar light. Are you sure the lights are connected to the buzzer and it’s not the door ajar switch. You have one at the rear of the door which is the ajar switcha nd the front one is the lights. So either the headlight switch is bad which has a rotational switch but I think that may be unlikely. What’s more likely is that one of the wires in the door jamb is stripped and is grounding out. You can open one door, push in the switch and wiggle the wires. Then close the door and do the other
the headlight switch just connects the switch to ground when you rotate it so I guess if all else fails you can see if that’s just grounded

Light gets ground from door switch. Positive always on light. SO get a test light or meter and take your front door switches and test if ground on both sides with door closed. Probably easier to take out and use ohm meter to verify open when closed
The '68s don't have a hood switch, but I do as I have an aftermarket alarm on the car. A bit of an explanation. I bought this car in '83 from the original owner. He added an alarm after he got it and I disconnected it. I sold the car to my brother-in-law in the late '80s and then bought it back from my sister a couple of years ago. Since it was in great shape with 24K miles, I decided to take care of all the small problems and just clean it up. So for the past few years its been on jack stands with the hood open most of the time.
I was working on some interior projects so closed the door so the buzzer stopped when the ignition was on. That's when I noticed the interior lights didn't go off. After reading your comment on the hood switch, I closed the hood and the lights went out. I had thought the alarm was disconnected but apparently the hood switch is wired to the interior light switch. Feel kind of dumb about this one, but thanks for your help.
I had one of the under dash courtesy’s lights flopping around and when it hit a metal brace, the all three interior lights would come on. Check your door light switches, even the restoration switches are troublesome to get the special wire clips to stay put.
