Default Dart Head owners... help please

To those of you who running Dart Heads on your SB....

What intake/carb combinations are you running? The engine I will be working with has the Dart Iron Eagle 200cc iron heads(2.02/1.6) and .030 over 355 with 427HP(if it is set up right). I have to admit that Dart has great documentation online of all the specs and parts that should be used with the heads. They suggest an aluminum single plane intake(their intake of course) with 1.100" x 2.000" openings/5.5" tall and a Holley 4150 850CFM carb. Edelbrock has a Victor-E & Super Victor series that has the same gasket formation and of course Brodix has intakes available. What are you all using?

Are any of you having problems with running a 1" spacer between the carb/intake and having hood clearance problems?

And as far as that goes... where are you buying your high performance parts? Locally or online? I'd like to get some of the major parts bought this year while the cash is on hand and while the economy is still in doldrums.

I don't have the same setup as you but I do have a 1" spacer between my Rochester and Holley dominator intake. I had to go to a 1" filter. Also had to use the thinnest bolthead I could find instead of a wingnut. It fits, but just barely. If I look hard, I can see where the bolt head makes light contact with the hood, probably when I hit a hard bump.

Go to the Dart web site! 355 ci need a 750 or less vac. carb. For an intake use the weiand 7530 or 7531.

I buy most of my things from Summit racing becase they are local.

Thanks for the info! I shot an e-mail off to Summit with all the information on the engine, the planned usage and your suggestions to see what they come up with. The Weiand 7530 calls out a felpro 1256 intake gasket and the 7531 a 1205 gasket. Dart suggests the 1205, so I figured why not make sure. I know quite a few drag racers that use Weiand intakes, so I know they make quality high performance equipment.

I have the Dart Iron Eagle 200 heads. I fully agree with gkull, about the 750 Holley mech sec, and the Weiand, or you could also pick up an original Torquer intake - not Torquer 2. I have the original Torquer and so does GrandSport80 and we are both very happy with them. Also why not move up to either a 383 ot 396, no more $ but one heck of a lot of upside performance.

If you have not ordered your heads yet. I bought my Dart heads from
http://www.martelbros.com I think that they are out of Houston. Anyway find out if they sell 200cc with 2.05 or 2.055 intake valves. Them and the facotry porting is all you need.

mpro72vette...

I contacted them(e-mail) on Wednesday right before I went out of town for Thanksgiving just to make sure the payment had cleared. Lisa(accounts) confirmed that everything cleared and said that Mark was out until Tuesday. No confirmation that the engine has shipped. Last Sunday night Mark e-mailed me that he would look into what would be the best shipper to Pearland.

How about you?

gkull...

Funny you should bring that up about Martel. Right after I shot off an e-mail to Summit I called Martel Bros(Katy, Tx) and asked for one of their catalogs. They told me that I could find everything needed online and that they do not have mail catalogs, but that they would gladly help me put this thing together. I talked to Mike there. He said they would be competitive with anything Jegs or Summit offered. Mike gave me his e-mail address and told me to shoot over everything I was looking for. One huge e-mail sent awhile ago.

The engine is coming in already assembled with ported Dart Iron Eagle 200cc heads(2.02/1.60). Bolt on all the other *expensive* stuff that I am needing to buy and time to rip up those brand new T/A's. Piece of cake! :)

It should zoom with my wallet being light weight.
