Default Rough running ... while driving

OK, looking for some possible suggestions. My 82 Collectors starts up just fine and idles a bit rough till it warms up. Once I get it out and on the road it seems to sputter a bit, almost like it's not getting fuel. I've changes out the fuel filter thinking it might be clogged. My next thought is the fuel pump is starting to die ... am i on the right track maybe?

I also thought maybe the fuel injection was not working properly ... yes no?

You need to check fuel pressure first, yes.

I resurrected an old Jeep and when the electric fuel pump started to go it did that, the warmer the pump got the worse it pumped...I would check the pressure cold then again as it heats up, but if it’s an original pump, it’s most likely the pump finally giving up from the alcohol in the fuel

If you're still running an HEI ignition it's possible the module is failing. This can show up as running OK until the engine heat sinks into the distributor.

They can fail on their own, but they also take a lot of abuse when the rotor is old and the coil is arcing through the rotor to the distributor shaft and module. Signs of this arc a rust looking material on the distributor shaft.

Of course there can be other causes but worth a look.

As far as I know it is the original pump ... I need to drop the tank and just replace it and scratch that off the to do list ...
