Default 69 SB to BB

This is my 69 (formerly SB) car. It was a 350 automatic and am staying automatic but went to a 400. Question is, do I need to swap out crossmember to a 400 or aftermarket one or can I just use the 350 one already in it? Secondly, is the driveshaft. I have swapped over to the 400 yoke. Can I use this same shaft lengthwise or is something neccessary to make it work? I was told its fine the way it is. Thought I would ask your thoughts.

I am under the impression all corvettes came with the TH 400 auto. There was no difference in frames except for a manual or auto. The difference was the auto had a removable crossmember.

The only AT for 1969 was the TH400. If your small block had factory AT, you should be good to go with the big block.

I think the auto frames were missing the little tab welded onto the frame to support the clutch Z bar shaft. Astounding that GM would be so cheap to make seperate frames for the autos and manuals. How much extra would it have cost to make all frames with a removeable crosssmember and the little clutch shaft support tab? A removeable crossmember is equally needed for a manual tranny. On an assembly line, it'd cost almost nothing to weld on the clutch support tab.

Good catch. Yea it would have been nice if they all were removable.

Was there a different tail shaft length for Corvettes and other models?
