Default Air gap and vortecs?

Hey guys... looking at a new intake/head/header setup...

Thinking about the latemodel Vortec cylinder heads, and an rpm airgap... will they fit under the hood, and mesh properly?

I realize the heads have a different intake bolt pattern then early year heads, but does eldebrock make an Air gap that fits it?

For heads, whats the story on Painted vs Coated?

Thanks
ZD

heres a link for hooker side mounts, and self aligning rockers have a slot in the middle so the rocker stays on the valve,so you dont need guideplates.
and yes they have a air gap intake for vortec heads.#7516 http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...H/Sidemnt.html

Cool!

so far...
The vortecs that are on jegs website, 809-12558060
RPM air gap intake 350-7516
A set of the sidemounts
A valley pan
and a ex268 cam...

Should be good enough to bring it back to year 2k technology in one place anyway

On the heads, can they fit the 1.6 rockers? or do you have to oval out the pushrod holes?

The air gap intake was meant for vortec heads. It's one of the few intakes that will work with the vortec heads. The 1.6 rockers will cause the pushrods to bind without modifications. I've got 1.5 on my vortecs.

If you are using the Vortec heads as they come from GM, the way Jegs sells them, you are limited to .450 lift on your cam. Otherwise you need to have the bosses on the heads, where the valve guides are mounted, machined to lower the valve seals. Put better springs on while you are at it. I did all this on my 77 and using an Edelbrock Performer, not the air gap model, everything, including the stock air cleaner, fits under the stock hood.
