I've recently read that it might not be good to have a TV cable disconnected from the carb. Well, ever since I bought my vette, the cable has been unhooked. Is this a problem? Can it damage the TH350 in some way? As I understood, the TV cable just signaled to the transmission when to shift/downshift. I prefer to do this manually anyways. Is this OK?
In 77 they did not call it a TV cable. The cable you took off is a "kickdown" cable. That's what the General called it. Anyway you can leave it disconnected no harm is done. :)

Re: TV Cable on a TH350 - Necessary? (paso)
The 700R4 and 200R4 use a TV cable. The TV cable has to do a lot with the pressure regulation in the transmission and is EXTREMELY important.
However, the Turbo350 used a kick-down cable. It basically told the transmission to kick-down from one gear to a lower one at a set throttle position. If yours is kicking down without the cable disconnected than you should be fine. I personally would have it hooked up and working. GM design engineers don't add extra items to a car if they are not needed as it costs more for the parts and take time in assembly. They must have had a reason for it.
