I'm wanting to have my 350 rebuilt. It's 63 K mile unit & forty years. Leaking at front pump seal. I want at least a stage 2 around at least 5 to 6 hundred horse power. Does any one in Kansas City area that can build one like that???? The freight cost are eating me up. Thank you. Gene
If I was going to pull it out I'd stuff a 700R4 back in or if you have time and money a 4L80E
Or 200-4R which can be built to handle the HP/Torque and is a more direct fit. Also, the 200 gearing is 2.74, 1.57, 1.00, ( and OD 0.67) which is much closer to the TH350 - 2.52, 1.52, 1.00 and doesn't have the huge jump from 1st to 2nd as the 700 / 4L60 types which go from 3.06 in first to 1.62 in second. The 4L80e is a probably the best combination of gearing, OD, and strength. But it can be a little tight in the tunnel.
In the interest of full disclosure I am wrapping up a TH350 swap to a 4L60E. The reason for the choice was to get the programability of the E types, but I didn't what any surprises fitting in an 4L80E. Not looking to start a debate on this as there are a lot of factors technical, install, and monetary, and each of us will weigh them and decide what is best the best choice for us.

Reason: one 4L60E should have been 4L80E
