Thanks for all the encourgment in the other thread. So, the cutting is now history. I am never going back to stock anyway. Check out the little custom made border trim.
Looks great ... I just did the same thing last week. I figured that my car will never be a show winner anyway so why not just do it. Now I can enjoy the Blaupunkt I put in or change it for any other model I want.
If you're not going to buy a bezel that has already been cut to start,
then let ME. I'll buy an appropriate bezel (fairly cheap) and swap for yours.
Mine is both filed for a 'normal' radio with ***** - and broken at the top.
They are too expensive for me to have justified the expense on the ol' 75.
My advice is to buy a 'used' one to customize and keep the original.
If you don't want to keep original, then I'll take it !!!!
BTW - no vette work this past weekend - but I do have heat in my Buick, now.
:seeya
Dave, the top of mine is broken off, I was going to try and glue it back on and then just cut out for the radio. They are a little on the expensive side so I will see if this works. I have a new radio thats real nice so I would like to use it. I got a lot of work done this weeked, the engine and transmission is out! I think you got heat in your Buick just in time! :yesnod: :yesnod:
You're talking like the bezel is GOLD....just go ahead and cut the damn thing !
Every parts catalog and their sister can supply new ones..get over it !
Life is too short to listen to crappy audio.
:boxing
Easy, no need to fight here.
Yeah, every catalog has them. Maybe you can buy one from each catalog,
and mail just one of them to me. Sadly, I have much more important things
to buy (with the lack of budget that I have).
If someone in the next town over is gonna dice theirs up, you better believe
that I'll ask to swap for one that's cut already.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled program
Mark - I'll catch up later (need to visit and check out your lack of progress)
Also, we need to get in touch with MarkM and visit in Hollis. Maybe Sunday ?
Dave, I might have a little time on Sunday, if your free give me a call. I forgot to tell you, I have a friend that has a '76' and a '72' that he might be selling, both are non-running. If he does I told him he should part them out because he would make more money. I told him if he does to give me first crack, he probably would sell me stuff real cheap. I hope he does part out because we could get some cheap parts, even a bezel!
You have to try Irene Cara, "What a Feeling." Or my ultimate test of a stereo system is Starship's (Jefferson Airplane's), "We Built this City on Rock and Roll."
Just put a Aiwa unit in my 81 plus 4 new speakers I cut the Bezel and it looks great the only problem Mama wanted one in her Olds so had to go and buy another. Had Best Buy put the one in Mama's ride and the FREE installation only cost me 61 Bucks so not to bad.
Nice work OHSIXX. I'm going to do the same thing someday. My bezel is already sawed, but it was Bubba who did it so it needs a little adjusting to make better fit for stereos.
FINALLY - SOME TUNES.
Your never going to be sorry you cut the benzel, in fact, your going to kick yourself for not doing it sooner. I cut the benzel two years ago for my new CD player and speakers, only after I wasted $$$$ replacing the original cassette player. At one time I too was confused on weather to cut or not to cut. That's how I ended up with a new (crappy) cassette player. I searched and searched for a player that had *****, when I found it - I bought it, and KNEW RIGHT THEN AND THERE, it wouldn't satisfy my needs. Why I bothered, I don't know, I just wanted TUNES, and knew it HAD to be better than the crap that chevy put there. That cassette player lasted two summers, and I couldn't take IT anymore. Now, everythings perfect... I finally have a CD player and a great sound system, which BTW - is worth it's weight in gold.
IMHO - I've been to many car shows over the years, and never has the CD player been an issue, I think the sound system generally gets a "pass" by most participant judged shows, depending what class you've entered the car in.
P.S. My vote for the first song to play - LITTLE RED CORVETTE :D
Looks Good........But I like the original look...... In the car....I am leaving mine that way and mounting a unit in the rear with a Remote control
