Hello all. I was able to remove my heater core and found the obvious reason why it was bypassed by the previous owner. So now that I have it out my problem (as it seems with everyone else) is finding a replacement that fits. I ordered a brass/copper looking one from advanced auto parts, opened the box and it was an Aluminum Spectra brand that didn't even come close to fitting. So now I'm going to try an ADPI Brand and see how that goes. While I await for this next try to arrive does anyone have any recommendations on a specific brand. I've read TSM ones that are made in Mexico seem to fit well over the Chinese stuff, but no definitive proof from anyone. I did also look into having my Harrison recored, but the cost was closer to $200. The other question I have is what makes these cores A/C compatible vs not. They all have one line in and one line out so what gives? Thanks in advance for your help.
after you install in the holder...leak test it!,!!!!!
i had to bend tubes slightly and it leaked..paragon had jig rebent better and leak checked it....then i leak checked it again...not in hurry to do that job again..
My $.02 is that if you have a local guy that can do this kind of work, that is the way I would go. You would probably spend close to that on a quality new one, and then have the fitment/quality issues. As said above, this is probably one of the worst jobs on these cars and you don't want to save a few bucks to do it again in a few years.
