Default 80 vette lets put it back together project purchase

well i bought another c3 but this one is in need of help the previous owner just hacked it up they removed the following
spare tire holder carrier assy the whole thing
improperly routed exhaust
removed all the ac/heat stuff even under the dash all duct work also
it has a different motor/trans but ehh ok
retro fitted the 4 headlight system and that was done wrong
hacked up the electrical system

so here we go, currently where I am on it is the complete body has been replaced with a NEW after market one, rear panel, front nose, front clip, fenders, rear section, and fenders, the doors have be redone, and the main house cabin has been redone,
the engine and trans is a 1968 Chevy 327 freshly built small cam aluminum heads and a turbo 400 trans
I have completely removed every wire and have replaced it with a "easy 22 circuit wire harness" like a painless kit it went in and now everything works
I had to install a complete door lock system from auto loc
i installed the low oil pressure light and the no charge system light
i have updated the center console gauges with equuis gauges
thy hacked up the instrument cluster so i had to just put equuis speedo and tack in on a aluminum backing
i am currently working on rewiring the door lock switches to be compatible with the auto loc kit
i have installed all new seals
i have some pics below don't freak out over the wiring its a in work evolution and when its done it will be fine allot of it is laid out for tracing and wiring it will be loomed and routed at final assy
the car itself is smooth and currently in epoxy primer but as i proceed and it moves along I will update you

An ambitious project for sure.
The wiring doesn't scare me so much, the body alterations are probably the biggest obstruction. I think the tail panel really needs to be re-thought, but that's simply a matter of taste I suppose.
Only thing that is glaringly hideous is that exhaust system. Custom exhaust is OK but maybe something less noticeable might be better, like this:

Good luck which ever way you decide to go with this one brother.
Cheers, Greg

lol to funny, ya i get what they were going after but that train seriously derailed on them, they didn't even get the mufflers straight, and they have entirely the wrong tips, they ran the pipes under the crossmember instead of through it, and they have the exhaust ran right under the fuel tank, I will either run it right and have it dump where it is supposed to, or I may do the whole side pipe thing not sure yet, as for the tail panel I think it looks okay the lic plate area still needs drilled and it needs cut for the tag light, and it needs the "c o r v e t t e" script put back on, there is allot of minor stuff, but I do have a major deal to do and that is put heat and ac back in it, vintage air has a really nice kit to bolt in and it converts it all to electronic control, no cables, or vacuum lines, and it comes with a period correct control panel, its 1580.00 brackets, mounts, plates, comp, condenser, evap box, computer, everything except Freon, ill get that ordered here in a few weeks, and get that in and then I can put the inside of the car back together,

Not sure about the tail, but not thinking it's that bad. It's the lack of headlight doors that bugs me. The 80-82 cars are good looking cars to be sure. But no headlight doors?

yes i am not a fan of the conversion on the head lights, but when they had this car taken apart they removed ALL the factory headlight system, there is no support beam brackets anything no vac sys, its all gone, I could probably fabricate a bracket to put the light housing back, but it would at a minimum need the electric conversion, and speaking of the 4 headlight conversion they didn't do it right either, I had to retrim the holes and refit the buckets to fit where you could adjust the headlights, and if you noticed there is no clear lens in front of the lights, so if I leave it the way it is those headlight holes will just pile up with dirt and debris, so I definitely half to do something with them, just keeping it in the back of my mind for now.

You are halfway to an L88 FIA headlight conversion. Here's an example from a quick Google search. Embrace the racecar look! That C4ish bumper has to go, though.

Maybe you could start a search for a wrecked 80/81 to use as a donor car for many of the parts you need. Could be an inexpensive way to get this project back on track.

problem is allot of these cars when there wrecked they are hit in front, I been a fabricator and master tech for 35 years, and have built several pro mods and vettes and different cars/trucks, fabricating the mounting and a fixture for a headlamp bucket and frame wouldn't be to hard, I would just half to put the electric lift and lower kit on it and that not a big deal, here is where I let the cat out of the bag what I paid for this mess lol .......4000.00, with what I have laying around in parts and what I have purchased I am invested at a total of about 5k, now with the a/c kit in the next few weeks that going to be 6500, I want to stay below 8 to 9k, it is hard to say what this car would go for, now remember it does have a new body and that helps but its still not original and allot has changed, so that's why I want to stay below 9 at that I believe I would break even but I don't plan on selling this 1 either, at least right now.

well I have the electric door locks working, and trying to reinstall the door panels, I bought all new anchors and hardware for them but the problem I am having is, when the window comes down it catches on the manual control cable I am sure it is a routing issue, but I received the car with the panel off so I am not sure of the proper routing, I also called vintage air and put together a complete kit for heat and a/c with there new electronic control panel that goes in place of the factory panel 1710.00, but, it is complete kit everything from the condenser, to the ac pump, to all the brackets, and venting, as soon as I receive it and get started on that ill update you, I also found a set of the original flip up style headlights and a electric motor kit, so here in the future ill have those square headlight kit for sale, I seen that kit in eklers and its 849.00 are they crazy lol.
