Default Recommendations for a vendor for diff & surrounding hardware?

I was seriously thinking about a particular vendor who has a pretty decent price on a conversion kit to an Eaton iron diff for my '80 but it's come to my attention that they have a spotty service track record.

I'm thinking of either converting to an Eaton or getting a strengthened Dana 44.

Who are vendors you believe to be reliable for this kind of thing?

I'd contact @GTR1999 if you want to keep your batwing with an Eaton diff. I'm casually looking for a core to do this with myself.

this company sells just the kit to install a Eaton if you scroll down, you still need the Eaton unit but the rest of it is there to mount it regardless of who you have rebuild the Eaton. I was surprised to find a Eaton or two on the local Craigslist about every time I’ve looked and was thinking of doing the same on my 80 L82

this right here. Gary is awesome. He helped me a lot with my 71 diff rebuild.

Have you ever used them?

The listings are tempting, however they're the vendor I mentioned above that seems to have a spotty record - several complaints in the transaction feedback area here going back a number of years. I suppose there could be reasons for it, I'm wary of feedback of things not happening when they said they would, ghosting people on communication.

No I haven’t, I would build the diff myself anyway, been eyeing Craigslist For a mid 70’s unit and just get a kit to mount it . Gary has great reviews on here on rebuilding so you can’t go wrong having him rebuild it a Eaton , I’m not sure Gary sells a kit to mount a Eaton into a Batwing so that would be where the mounting kit comes to play .

I’m probably a 425 hp with a 700R4 , stock RPM converter and 3.08 gear at this point so far with no problems on a 102k mile Dana 44 , I’m not really convinced yet I need a Eaton in my case ? I already have a drag car so I won’t be installing any drag radials on the Vette but my Dana leaked bad out of the pinion seal when I got it last year and was the first thing I fixed on it . Of course once the Pinion seal was fixed and held the fluid then the axles seals started leaking, I’m either going to freshen my Dana or go Eaton, not sure yet
