Default LS3 Engine Cover Options

Good Morning All,

I am figuring out my options for engine covers for my '73 LS3. The LS3 came from a Camaro and I have that cover but do not like it and it probably would not fit under the hood. I would like the stock black/red corvette LS3 covers but the fuel enters from the passenger side so they do not fit, so I am wondering what my options are. The first thing I can think of is making a longer braided hose and running to the other side of the engine, is that acceptable? Are there any considerations if I do that regarding routing/safety? Any other options that are not too expensive?

Thanks,

Scott

When i did my 73 Z28/LS3 project I used LS3 engine covers in black. The the drivers side cover is notched for the fuel rail not the passenger side. Oil fill hole and small notch on the passenger side cover for the dip stick. I like the look of the stock LS3 covers.

How did you route the fuel to the driver side?

Id want to fab something out of aluminum or stainless then polish it.
Maybe the newer gen tech sections know of a nice aftermarket piece you can buy?

Theres a guy username Josh that got a weiand alum. Intake, moved the coils and polished much of his engine looks awesome. Doubt it gets real hot as coolant dont run through it.

When I ran the -6 fuel line on my 71 C3 LS swap I ran them from the tank along the left frame rail up to the left side of the engine compartment. Sorry no pics. If I recall I pretty much followed the path of the stock fuel line and vapor lines.
If that doesn't work you could always cross over behind the cylinder heads. Plenty of bolt holes to use clamps to hold the fuel line in place. If you use the rubber lined clamps like I have used many times the bolt holes in the clamps are too small for much more than a 1/4-20 bolt. So If I have a spare bolt hole like the ones on the back of the heads I take the correct size bolt and drill and tap it for a 10-24 bolt. Buy the cheap soft hardware store metric bolt say maybe 1/2"-3/4" long. Drill and tap from the bolt head thru the threaded part of the bolt. Even with drilling thru the bolt all its doing is holding a fuel line in place.
