Default Doesn't Cool Exhaust Contract?

Cool gases contract, so why are header companies using ceramic coatings to retain the heat in the gas to speed it up?

The mass of cool exhaust gas acts as a restriction to gas trying to exit the combustion chamber.

You want to keep the exhaust hot as long as you can. The moment that the exhaust leaves the cylinder it starts to cool. Colder air is more dense than warmer air, there for it takes more to force the cooler air out of the exhaust. It's all about how efficently you can remove the spent exhaust from the car without using up much energy from the engine to do so. :)

Also the reason behind the larger exhaust systems ;) .
