Transmission leak SOLVED
I’ll build a different thread for this bit since this seems to be the ‘restore’ thread I thought to put it here. So a common leak issue for the trans on chevys has been the bullet that your speedometer cable attaches to. Been meaning to replace it and since ‘I’m already there’ replaced it and the gasket for the pan. Check out the pics of the old and new bullet. The leak comes from the non existent o ringt around the bullet body. The speedometer cable is always blamed but that just needs to be hand tightened. I learned this all on YouTube and I wish I remembered the guys name. Google bullet transmission corvette c3

You can bet that some of that RTV crud and maybe even an old destroyed "O" ring is trapped at the trans filter.
I replaced both and they seemed clean and no metal shavings at the bottom of pan. I was going to add a strong magnet like I did with my old dodge 1500 to capture shavings but a strong wind blew and whispered in my ear ‘finish already chump!’
